Oh boy, one of my pet peeves are all the "cure for cancer" fundraisers. Actually I have a bunch of pet peeves, that's why I started a blog, so I could rant. But today we'll rant about the "cancer" industry.
Bless Mike Adams, I don't know how much time he must spend on his NewsTarget web site. I get his newsletters and his comic satires. That guy hits the nail on the head every time. Well at least in my book.
But what is it that makes people believe certain things? I believe the government is corrupt, that pharmaceutical companies pretty much run North America (could be farther reaching than that, actually) and that medical professionals are highly educated finger puppets for the pharma industry. So what is it that I've read that makes me believe this, while other people actually think that the FDA is looking out for their best interest?
But I digress... what brought up Mike Adams is his latest satire of the Cancer Industry. Some statistics from Mike:
The American Cancer Society, for example, once held hundreds of millions of dollars in cash, owned a fleet of luxury cars, owned $11 million worth of real estate, and hundreds of millions of dollars in other assets. Its CEO currently earns over $760,000 / year in salary
I can't even imagine how much money and how big the Cancer Industry is, and I'm sure I don't even want to know. But do these people that take on these events actually think they'll cure cancer with this one last run??!!
"The idea that people can help find a cure for cancer by paying money to run in circles is preposterous," said natural health author and cancer industry critic Mike Adams. "These 'race for the cure' activities are grandiose circus acts based on two cruel lies promoted by the for-profit cancer industry. The first lie is that there isn't already a cure for cancer, because there are dozens of genuine cancer cures from the world of natural medicine. The second lie is that cancer can only be cured through patented synthetic chemicals created by corporations that don't even know what causes cancer in the first place."
I love Mike, he's crustier than I am :-).
Please people, save us all from these grand efforts, save us all from your guilt, your money is being used to subsidize research efforts of the wealthiest corporations in the world. Who will then turn around and charge patients (like those wonderful folks who make them richer by "running for the cure") a hyper-inflated price for patented chemicals that don't cure cancer, because after all it's an industry that holds jobs for thousands and thousands of people.
Please, instead of dawning your pink ribbons, eat a piece of fruit, you'll feel better.
